Welcome 2010!!

This morning we went for a 4 mile run OUTSIDE...can you say COLD!! When we were protected from the northwest wind it wasn't bad, but when we were running into the wind it was brutal!! Mara had a great time...we let her off leash the whole time as we were near some wooded areas and not on main roads. She leaped and bound through the snow.

We ate awful last night and again today when we went to a friend's house today for lunch. I am ready to get back on my diet and feel better again. No more insulin peaks and valleys!! I have felt so much better these last 6 weeks without the whites than I have...probably ever!! It takes a couple of meals that are not part of the diet for me to realize the strength of the fabulous diet!!

  1. Wow, you are gutsy to run outside in wind advisories! I can just see Mara. I bet she had a great time. There is just something about the snow that dogs can't resist.

Ahhhhh carbs. DOH! OK, so what are you going to do when it's time for a big competition and you have to load up on carbs the week ahead? Without whites, what is a typical meal for you?

  2. We did have a good run even though it was VERY COLD!! Mara loved it!! We did not go today...that is a bit extreme!!

We are eating whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and quinoa, all of which are carbs, just not the refined, processed kind. We have felt so well these last 6 weeks that when we "fell off the wagon" for one day it totally screwed up our systems. We decided that we should not be consuming these foods to begin with if we don't feel well after consuming them one time.

I will continue to consume healthy carbs and we can get pasta that is from whole grains as well. It has caused us to read lots of labels and look at calories as well. It has actually been fun :)
